March 31, 2014: Today is Bunsen Burner Day, celebrating the birthday of Robert Wilhelm Eberhard von Bunsen back in 1811. (Although when I hear “Bunsen”, of course I think of Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, muppet scientist extraordinaire. And his trusty assistant Beaker, meep meep.) It’s also National Tater Day, which started specifically as a celebration of the sweet potato. The originating area (Benton, Kentucky) celebrates the first Monday of April, but the rest of the known internet appears to have latched onto this day to celebrate. So let’s all make it a Tater Week!
