August 1, 2014: Happy Spider-Man Day! There are actually multiple days celebrating ol’ Spidey; this one marks his first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15, back in August of 1962. Today is also the first Friday in August, which means it’s International Beer Day. Whether you’re international and want to drink a domestic beer, or you’re located domestically but want to drink an international beer, it’s all good.

Because we don’t have enough holidays celebrating scouts (seriously, it feels like we’ve had a half-dozen already this year), today is World Scout Scarf Day; if you’re a current or former Scout, you’re supposed to wear your scarf today as a symbol of scouting. Finally, today is World Wide Web Day (which should be related to Spider-Man somehow, but isn’t, but I don’t care, I made that part of the doodle a big spiderweb anyway). It’s a day to celebrate the communications tool that makes all of this internet stuff possible, so huzzah, WWW!
