September 17, 2013: Apple Dumpling Day is meant to be celebrated with those floppy not-quite-pies that are still quite delicious. But instead, why not celebrate with a viewing of The Apple Dumpling Gang, one of the live-action Disney movie from the ’70s and ’80s that starred the weird but lovable Don Knotts as a hapless outlaw. Citizenship Day (also known as Constitution Day) is an actual US federal observance (unlike so many of these weird holidays) commemorating not just the adoption of the Constitution, but also honoring all of those who have gone through the process to become US citizens.
