The word “pumpkin” shows up six times in my October list of holidays. Ripe Pumpkin Day, Pumpkin Cheesecake Day, Pumpkin Bread Day, Carve a Pumpkin Day, Pumpkin Pie Day, and this: the pure, unmodified, plain ol’ National Pumpkin Day. It’s almost as if October and Pumpkins are somehow permanently linked in the American subconscious.
I saw this year they’ve come out with Pumpkin Pie Spice Peeps for Halloween. I didn’t think they could go any farther with the pumpkin pie spice, but they’ve certainly pushed the envelope.
