
In the “regional word use” department: I don’t think I heard the word “chickpea” until I was in my 20s. They were always garbanzo beans when I was growing up. (Not that I ate all that many garbanzo beans; I’m not a big fan of hummus, and I only learned about roasting them until crispy and amazing a few years ago.)
