A little something fun to celebrate every day!

October 16, 2013: Hagfish Day; Bosses Day

October 16, 2013: Lots of days today, including the non-pictured but always handy Dictionary Day. I needed it to find out what a hagfish was for Hagfish Day. It’s also known as a Slime Eel, which pretty much tells you its general shape and what kind of mucous it likes to create in its free time. Boy oh boy, are these suckers ugly. And yet, kind of charming. This holiday is a chance for us to celebrate all marine life, not just the cute dolphins or starfish or Nemo, but also the vast assortment of butt-ugly critters. It seemed to tie in perfectly with Bosses Day, a day “to thank bosses for being kind and fair throughout the year.” It’s been around since 1958, but it’s still fairly obscure, probably because most people aren’t all that delighted by their bosses. I like mine, however, so I opted to make the hagfish boss a dude, so boss-lady knows it isn’t about her. Right, boss? We’re cool, right? Boss?
