October 11, 2013: It’s the last of my International Cephalopod Awareness Week doodles, today featuring Myths and Legends Day. The Kraken has been pictured as anything from actual giant cephalopods to a sort of gill-man, so I went with an octopus-type guy. He can’t be that awful; he needs the comfort of his little bear friend for Take Your Teddy Bear to Work Day. He’s taking down the good ship 1011 because today is also Binary Day 10, meaning it’s the second of two Binary Days, the first being yesterday. Because, 10/10 and 10/11. Why do they call it “Binary Day 10”? Well, perhaps the old joke will make it clear: “There are only 10 kinds of people: those who understand binary, and those who don’t.”
