October 10, 2013: International Cephalopod Awareness Week rolls on, with Squid and Cuttlefish Day today. I still picture the word as “cuddlefish” in my brain, even though they’re the farthest thing from cuddly. Here, Goldisquid is enjoying some porridge for World Porridge Day, which is a great holiday for a great cause, in addition to celebrating “Scotland’s traditional national dish”. (I thought that was haggis?)
I had to find out exactly what porridge is, to see if I’ve ever eaten it before. (I’ve definitely eaten squid, thanks to fried calamari being on every appetizer menu everywhere.) Turns out it’s pretty much what we call oatmeal here in the states, so I’m putting a check-mark in the eaten column. BOOM, Scotland.
