November 24, 2013: D.B. Cooper Day; Celebrate Your Unique Talent Day

November 24, 2013: D.B. Cooper may have just been a regional big deal, but I certainly grew up hearing about him. D.B. Cooper Day marks this day back in 1971, when he hijacked a plane traveling from Portland to Seattle, then took off again with $200,000 in ransom money. He jumped out of the plane somewhere between Seattle and Reno, has has never been heard from since. If you like that kind of cold case, the Wikipedia entry is pretty good. (And don’t even get me started on Wikipedia’s list of people who disappeared mysteriously, because I can get trapped in that rabbit hole for hours.) It’s also Celebrate Your Unique Talent Day, be it playing the recorder flute with your nose, balancing a broomstick on your forehead, or hijacking an airliner and parachuting away to disappear without a trace.
