November 11, 2013: We’re taking a trip to Japan for two of today’s holidays: Origami Day and Pocky Day. I’ve made a surprising number of origami cranes in my life, primarily due to friends and coworkers needing vast numbers of them for weddings or other special events. I always seem to get roped in. As for Pocky, they’re tasty little biscuit sticks coated with chocolate. And there’s a fascinating … game? to be played at the Pocky website. Is it really a game? Or something else? Not sure, since it’s all in Japanese. It’s also Sundae Day today, not to be confused with Ice Cream Sundae Day (July 8), Hot Fudge Sundae Day (July 25), or Strawberry Sundae Day (July 7). Seems like a bit of sundae overkill to me, but clearly the Sundae Council is hard at work getting us to eat more.
