May 21, 2013: On this day in cinema history, The Empire Strikes Back premiered. 1980 was a good year (not as great a year for sci-fi as 1982, but still pretty good) and Empire was a great film. The best of the Star Wars films, some many most all sensible beings everywhere would say. Primarily because it’s the only one not written by Lucas and not directed by Lucas.
