Today is also National Learn to Swim Day and National Safe Boating Week, which are both always the Saturday before Memorial Day weekend. Since Memorial Day is usually the launch of summer in the US, it’s also considered the start of boating and other water-enjoying season. So be sure you can paddle your way to shore, and always wear your life vest. Yes, they look dorky, but better dorky than drowned!
