March 4, 2014: National Pancake Day; National Grammar Day; Toy Soldier Day

March 4, 2014: Brought to you by our friends at the International House of Pancakes, it’s National Pancake Day! There may be free pancakes involved somehow. This day roams all around the calendar, because it’s related to Easter — Pancake Day is the same day as Shrove Tuesday. (And if you ask me what a Shrove is, I couldn’t tell you. This whole Lent/Easter thing has always perplexed me.) It’s also National Grammar Day, so please enjoy this terrible grammar. I’ve thrown in one of my personal favorites, the misuse of “I” vs. “me”. Last but not least, it’s Toy Soldier Day, so get out the little green army men, or your Xmas nutcrackers, and have a wee sandbox battle. I’m reminded of the “Army Men” video game franchise, where you were a green plastic army man making your way through a giant living room. Good times.
