Typewriting Day is also known as World Typewriter Day. It marks the day in 1868 when a patent was granted to Christopher Latham Sholes. Sadly, I don’t know anyone who owns a typewriter now. I was part of the very last who learned how to type on a typewriter — in fact, we did half of my typing classes on typewriters, then did the other half on TRS-80 computers.
