June 14, 2014: National Bourbon Day; World Jugglers Day

June 14, 2014: Time to knock back a snort of barrel-aged American whiskey; it’s National Bourbon Day! There’s a list of legal requirements for a whiskey to be upgraded to the name “bourbon”, among them a need to be aged in charred oak barrels and being made from at least 51% corn. I’ve had bourbon on the rocks, but the stuff is kind of strong for me. (And if the bourbon can juggle its own ice cubes, then it’s definitely too strong for me.)

Today is also World Jugglers Day, which is different from International Jugglers Day back on April 18. This one is sponsored by the International Jugglers’ Association, and falls on the Saturday closest to June 17th. Which is weirdly specific and strangely unexplained.
