July 31, 2014: National Chili Dog Day; Uncommon Instruments Awareness Day

July 31, 2014: Today is a step up from last week’s Hot Dog Day — it’s National Chili Dog Day! So take that hot dog and kick it up a notch. Or, just chop up some hot dogs and throw them in the chili pot. Can’t be any weirder than putting hot dogs into baked beans, right?

It’s also Uncommon Instruments Awareness Day; this year, I give you the oud, which has a common ancestor with the lute. This instrument has way too many strings for me; personally, I’ll stick with my four-stringed instruments. But it can make some kick-ass sounds.
