A little something fun to celebrate every day!

July 29, 2014: National Chicken Wing Day; Wil Wheaton's Birthday

July 29, 2014: National Chicken Wing Day has been around since 1977, when the mayor of Buffalo, New York proclaimed it to be so. Not surprising that it came from Buffalo, since the city is now practically synonymous with chicken wings. I prefer a milder wing sauce, myself — some of them are downright volcanic.

Today we also celebrate Wil Wheaton’s Birthday; he’s a 1972 baby, just like me, so today he enters into the wonderfully geeky landmark that is age 42. Welcome, Wil. It’s good so far. (For those who like to play six degrees of separation, I’ve met Wil briefly, and he seems like good people.)

There are a ton of videos I could put up for Wil Wheaton here, from Stand By Me up to his most recent show, The Wil Wheaton Project, which has been airing this summer on SyFy. But I’ll go with this re-imagining of the ST:TNG episode “The Game”, in which Wil’s Wesley saves the day. (And if it were re-imagined again today, I have to assume it’d be Candy Crush Saga.)
