July 28, 2014: At first my brain read it as “Chocolate Milk Day”, but no, strike that and rearrange. Today is National Milk Chocolate Day. I prefer a semisweet myself, but I guess milk chocolate would do in a pinch. Although I’d prefer potato chips to all chocolate choices. Today we also have yet another Hamburger Day; yes, we just had one in May. We’ll also have another one in December. I’ve given up trying to fight it, so I’ll just head down to our new local Red Robin and have a classic cheeseburger, wrapped in lettuce leaves instead of a bun. Yummmmm.
Last but not least, today is Beatrix Potter’s Birthday. I read the Peter Rabbit stories as a kid, but for some reason I always found them vaguely depressing. Maybe it was the artwork — instead of happy cartoon bunnies, they were drawn with sad real-bunny eyes. Though Jemima Puddle-Duck always seemed pretty saucy.
