July 14, 2014: Mid-July is apparently the perfect time to celebrate Pick Blueberries Day — I’m told they’re at their peak of ripeness right about now. I like a lot of berries, but blueberries aren’t one of them. Not a flavor I enjoy. And speaking of flavors I don’t enjoy, it’s also National Grand Marnier Day. So if you’re feeling the urge for some orange-flavored cognac, you’re totally in luck.

Last but not least, the 2nd Monday of July brings us International Town Criers Day. There are still Town Crier guilds out there today, and it seems to be having a bit of a cosplay kind of renaissance. “Town Crier” appears to also be a fairly common name for small city newspapers.

(Also, for any and all French readers: happy Bastille Day!!)
