January 21, 2014: It’s National Hugging Day. I sincerely hope nobody expects me to celebrate this one; I’m just not a hugger. And it always feels like when people force a hug on the non-huggers of the world, they say they’re doing it for YOU, but they’re really doing it for THEM. Or as a power trip, maybe. Anyhoo, I’ll let all of you do all of the hugging for me. I will, however, appreciate some of our little forest friends for Squirrel Appreciation Day. Some think of them as nasty rodents, but I find squirrels to be totes adorbs. (Oh no! I’m over 30 and just wrote two of the things I’m supposed to be shamed into not writing or saying. That’s just cray-cray! Yes, I’m feeling snarky today. Thinking about being hugged has me in a cantankerous mood.)
