A little something fun to celebrate every day!

February 2, 2014: Groundhog Day; Hedgehog Day; World Play Your Ukulele Day

February 2, 2014: Groundhog Day is possibly a bit too well-known for the “weird and obscure” mission statement of the doodles; however, it pairs so beautifully with Hedgehog Day, I couldn’t resist. Did you know that today is also Marmot Day, but that the groundhog is a type of marmot? And that groundhogs are also known as whistle-pigs and land-beavers? And that a groundhog is the same thing as a woodchuck? Learning!

Whether these guys see their shadows today or not, by celebrating World Play Your Ukulele Day (formerly May 2), they’re ensuring six weeks (or more) of magnificent tropically-flavored music that will get your toes tapping and your hips swaying the hula (that you started yesterday, of course). I’ll definitely play the ukulele today, it’s just a matter of deciding which one. Because once you start with ukuleles, you can’t stop.

(And just because it’s a twice-in-a-lifetime kind of thing, I have to say: Go, Seahawks!)
