February 11, 2014: Whew! A rare and exciting fiver! Let’s start with Peppermint Patty Day, which might be for the Peanuts character or it might be for the minty chocolate treat. Let’s say it’s for whichever one you think is better. Extraterrestrial Visitor Day is all about those weird new friends from the sky who might want to probe you, or they might just want to be taken to your leader. Make a Friend Day is easy enough — go out there and meet someone new. Or perhaps turn an acquaintance into a friend. White T-Shirt Day marks the end of an auto worker strike at General Motors back in 1937, and led to the formation of the UAW union. And last but not least, Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk Day is a nice reminder that some things just aren’t a big deal, and we should all let them go without too much emotion involved.
(There were a total of 13 holiday choices today, as well as birthdays galore [Both Burt Reynolds AND Thomas Edison? What a day!], so today is definitely a day to get out there and get partying.)
