A little something fun to celebrate every day!

December 16, 2013: Barbie and Barney Backlash Day; Boston Tea Party Day

December 16, 2013: On this day back in 1773, a bunch of people threw some tea into the harbor. That’s right, it’s Boston Tea Party Day! As a fan of tea (brewed from loose leaves, because I’m fancy [sticking pinkies out]), I’m glad we got all of that settled so that 240 years later, we can have a cuppa without being taxed up the wazoo. It’s also Barbie and Barney Backlash Day, which seems like an outdated holiday to me — are kids still clamoring for either of those things? According to the creators of the holiday, “It’s the one day each year when mom and dad can tell the kids that Barbie and Barney don’t exist.” Which makes little to no sense to me. Anyhoo, let’s pitch them both into the harbor. And while we’re at it, let’s throw Tickle Me Elmo, Furby, Tamagotchi, Cabbage Patch Kids, and any other panic-inducing must-have toy in there as well.

Extra fresh note: I’ve finally built a Facebook page for the Doodles. Not entirely sure what I’ll be doing with it, besides connecting with you lovely people. If you’d like to like it, please hop over to the Holiday Doodles Facebook page and click the Like button. Also, let me know over there what you’d like to see. Sketches? Pictures of my cats? Bad poetry? I can do any and all of those things.
