A little something fun to celebrate every day!

December 14, 2013: Monkey Day; Bouillabaisse Day

December 14, 2013: Monkey Day; Bouillabaisse Day

December 14, 2013: It’s Monkey Day today! There’s actually a website for this holiday, although it doesn’t get into the history so much. I’m vaguely intrigued, as this month’s War on Christmas continues, by the idea that it was developed as an antithesis to the religious holidays of the season. At any rate, here in our house, we’ll celebrate my husband Scott, because in the fictitious world we’ve built around our cats, they consider him their trained pet monkey.

It’s also Bouillabaisse Day, and I’ve now had to write that word several times, and I get it wrong at first every single time. Bouillabaisse is a fish/shellfish/seafood stew, and has a place of honor on the list of foods I’ve never eaten. Although there’s a possibility that somewhere down the line, I might actually try it. Because it doesn’t seem all that gross; I’ve just never had the opportunity to eat some present itself.
