August 13, 2014: This carnivore couldn’t be happier to celebrate National Filet Mignon Day. Our wedding anniversary is coming up in a couple of days, and we’ll doubtless be celebrating it at our local Brazilian steakhouse, with more than a few pieces of filet. Some people love a porterhouse or a big NY strip, but I’ll go filet any day. Today is also International Left Handers Day, honoring the 10% or so who are southpaws. I’ll admit right here, I still don’t understand why the safety scissors in elementary school wouldn’t work for either hand, but they sure don’t.
