April 27, 2014: It’s Morse Code Day, in honor of Samuel Morse’s birthday in 1791. (There’s also a Learn Your Name in Morse Code Day back in January.) Some also celebrate Morse Code Day on May 24th, the day in 1844 that the first message was sent in Morse. The message was “what hath God wrought”, which doesn’t strike me as particularly cheery.
It’s also National Prime Rib Day, celebrating a cut from the ribs of the noble cow. I’m a big fan of beef, but I’ not that big on the prime rib; it always seems way too wet and pink for me. Give me a sirloin or filet mignon any day.
